Error codes for York Furnace

YORK was formed in 1874 and has been a leader in the field of manufacturing materials and equipment. In 1914, a YORK company developed an extremely effective system that allowed for air to flow to the building, which was the precursor to modern air conditioning. And in 1924, the world only used YORK products to create air conditioning in a commercial building. Products from YORK are used to heat and cool iconic structures, like the English Chunnel, Empire State Building, the U.S. Capitol Building, and also the Sydney Opera House.

York Furnace errors are identified by three different colors: red, yellow, and green. Each error code color displays differently depending on the type of error that is being thrown at your furnace. Finding out which colors and how many flashes your furnace produces will help you to determine the problem that you are experiencing with your York Furnace.

Fast Red Flash

Fast red flash code means that there is a twinning error or an incorrect 24V phasing. To fix that, you need to verify the twinning wiring. Fire ejectors are able to sense a flame at a current that is less than 1.5 microamp.

Two Red Flashes

Two red flashes code means that pressure switch contacts which are supposed to be open are stuck in a position that they cannot go into. Control circuitry ensures that the contacts in the cooling fans are always open at the beginning of every cycle.

It could be a sign that a leaking pressure switch or that something has been mangled. This is because the pressure switch contacts were open, but were not sealed when the stimulator was applied to the switch.

Four Red Flashes

Four red flashes code means that one of the contacts on the switch that controls the time limit has been opened. Controlling air blower and inducer operation causes the main control panel to switch on.

It is possible that dirty filters are causing the blower to not function properly, or that the duct system is not properly sized, or that the blower is not firing at the correct rate, so you must clean them and check thoroughly. This code can be triggered by a faulty relay or by a faulty fuse that may be inserted in the control board.

Five Red Flashes

Five red flashes code means when the contacts that should be closed on a rollout device are opened. The roll-out control is reset by replacing the contacts or by resetting the control by switching on the ignition source.

If the switch has thrown open the contacts, verify that a properly controlled gas burner is igniting properly, and if the heat exchanger is failing or the burner is not working properly. Make sure that you have correctly reprogrammed the heating element to operate properly and that you have restored power (24 VAC) to the control before installing the control. It may also be due to a faulty fuse on the control board.
