In some cases it is necessary to restart your Xbox. Restarting your Xbox helps you solve problems with errors, apps and updates.
Method 1: Restart your Xbox from the Power Center
- Press and hold the Xbox button of your Xbox controller to open Power Center.
- Select Restart console and then Restart.
Method 2: Restart your Xbox by power cycling
- Turn off your Xbox console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
- Turn your Xbox console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your Xbox controller.
Note: If you don't see the green Xbox boot-up animation when the console starts, repeat the steps above. Make sure that you press and hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

Method 3: Restart an Xbox by unplugging the power cable
- Turn off your Xbox console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it's shut down completely.
- Unplug the power cable from the console and wait at least 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
- Plug the console power cable back in.
- Turn on your console by pressing the Xbox button.
