Frequently asked questions

You can use the speed test above on a computer that is connected to your home Wi-Fi to determine your current internet speed. The test will tell you your ping time as well as the upload and download speeds of your connection.

Good home internet speeds are determined by how you use the internet at home. For families with multiple internet users or for frequent online streaming, a minimum internet speed of 12-25 Mbps is recommended. If you want to stream videos and play games online at the same time, we recommend a minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps.
For gaming, ping time is more important than your internet download speed. A ping time of 20 milliseconds or less is ideal, while a ping time of 20-100 milliseconds shouldn’t provide any lag or issues. You can reduce your ping time by increasing your download and upload speed and by using a network cable instead of WiFi.

Cable internet or fiber optic internet is usually the best internet for gaming, because they both provide low-latency internet connections, which means a lower ping time.

Start by connecting a short network cable to a computer and try the internet speed test above to figure out what your internet speed is.

Contact your internet provider and find out of they can upgrade your internet connection. Alternatively, find a different internet provider who can provide a cable or fiber internet connection.
