If you are having problems using your Krups coffee machine or your other home appliances, you might encounter error code 5 on your device. It can happen when something is wrong with your device or when there is a problem with your power supply. Sometimes, hardware issues or server problems can cause this error.
This error occurs when there is no water in the water supply or when there is a problem with the water pump.
Error code 5 indicates a locked water supply (water meter, pump, motor, distributor, or microswitch). Error 5 is commonly caused by a flow meter, a faulty pump or a malfunctioning water distributor. After a few seconds of your pump being activated, there will be no water flowing. Sometimes it is really difficult to determine whether there is really no water flow at all OR if the flow meter is not detecting any flow at all.
It is possible that your Krups coffee machine is not working properly and you just need to clean it. Krups recommends that you descale your coffee maker once a month.
After removing the filter cartridge, pour the appropriate solution into the water tank. If water still remains in the tank, start a new cycle of 5 oz. Press the CLEAN button (o) and the BREW/control knob (k) to start the 30 minute descaling process.
If the water tank is empty when you reach the end of this cycle, start a new cycle by pressing the CLEAN button. Rinse the coffee maker by running two full cycles (no coffee) on hot water before changing the filter cartridge and brewing coffee.
If your Krups coffee maker doesn't brew coffee, there are surprisingly easy solutions. Although this seems like an obvious reason, it is very difficult to brew coffee if the water tank is empty. If you experience a power outage or a power surge, you may have to unplug your coffee maker and plug it back in to force it to reset itself. If you reset your appliance, be sure to re-program the clock if you want the coffee maker to start brewing at the scheduled time.
As a last effort, try contacting Krups customer service to get the error code fixed. You should try calling the company or visiting their website. After you call the customer support, you will need to send a detailed message to their customer service department. They can help you figure out what to do to fix the error and provide you with a possible solution.
